ABOUT

OUR MISSION

To do good in the world through community connections, purposeful products, non-profit partnerships, giveback initiatives, and by providing a warm and comfortable space for people to gather in.

OUR NAME

To us, a humble house represents a new beginning. We picture a starter home. It may be small and simple, but it is full of love and hope for the future. A safe, peaceful space to share with loved ones. A foundation on which to grow and thrive.

MELISSA LUTZ

OWNER

Hi all! I am Melissa, the Owner/Operator at Humble House. It is such an honor to be able to serve the Golden community and work with some of the most wonderful people! Back tracking a few years… I grew up in Crystal Lake, Illinois and attended the University of Illinois where I graduated with a bachelors in Advertising and Marketing. After graduating and working in Chicago in the industry for a while, I had the feeling that I was called to do something different in the world and to make a greater impact.

My Aunt Nancy, who started a non-profit working in the mountains of Haiti, invited me on a trip with her to volunteer in the remote community of Despinasse, Haiti. It was then that everything changed. After connecting with some of the kindest people (pictured here is sweet Holi) and seeing the extreme poverty they lived in, I finally knew my purpose. I began traveling to Haiti twice a year, putting together fundraisers and overseeing programs to help bring new opportunities to the people of Despinasse. But it never felt like enough. There were so many high priority needs and we were only able to scratch the surface.

So, I came up with the idea to start a coffee shop that would donate a portion of profits to my aunt’s organization, Serve With Love Today. In 2017, I picked up my life in Chicago and moved out to Colorado to shake things up and get out of my comfort zone. And from there, everything seemed to fall into place. The opportunity to open Generous Coffee Shop in Tributary Food Hall and test out the concept presented itself. We had so much success in that space that we decided to move into our own shop in the Summer of 2023! With that came a name change, so much growth and some many new opportunities! I am so grateful to be here working alongside some of the most incredible people, to have immense support from friends and family, and to have a community that has rallied around us from the get-go!
